The first Red Jacket Squad was organized in September of 1937 under the leadership of Miriam Callender. Members were elected from the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes by the active members on the squad. The election and initiation was in April. The names of the girls were brought up and discussed before the members. An informal election was held and final voting took place and bids were issued to the girls
