Interment will be held in St. Peter Roman Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. Rev. Gil Dutel, pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Nina Babineaux Bearb and Joni Podhorez Babineaux. Giftbearers will be Jenna, Brooklyn and Sydney Babineaux. Altar Servers will be Jackson Babineaux, Jude and Jase Braquet. Eucharistic Minister will be Danielle Romero Babineaux. Musical selections will be provided by Brian Sanford. The songs will be Ave Maria, Be Not Afraid, How Great Thou Art, On Eagle’s Wings, Amazing Grace and Here I Am Lord. Mr. Babineaux was a native of Cankton and a resident of Ossun for nearly forty years. For many years he served as an accountant at All American Insurance Company followed by Azar Eye Clinic. After retirement, Mr. Wil began his second career bartending and serving at UL sporting events, the Cajun Cooking Club and other events at the Cajun Dome. He enjoyed most of all visiting with patrons at the baseball games. Even as his health declined he would do everything he could to make the games and share his passion for people. His love was felt by all he served. He also enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in his yard. A devout Catholic, Mr. Babineaux was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott where he was an Usher and was a member of the Bonne Mort Society. He cherished Sunday gatherings with his family attending Mass, having a family meal and spending the day together. He had a passion for family; nothing made him happier than spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Marie Boullion Babineaux native of Kaplan; two sons, Anthony Babineaux and his wife, Joni Podhorez Babineaux, of Lafayette, and Jerome Babineaux and his wife, Danielle Romero Babineaux, of Ossun; one brother, Marcel Babineaux and his wife, Betty, of Carencro; five grandchildren, Dylan Babineaux, Jenna Babineaux, Brooklyn Babineaux, Sydney Babineaux and Jackson Babineaux; one sister-in-law, Ruby Falcon Babineaux of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcee and Bernadette Hernandez Babineaux; three brothers, Alcide Babineaux and his wife, Lucy, Weston Babineaux and Malcolm Babineaux; and one sister, Sybil Babineaux Comeaux. Pallbearers will be Anthony Babineaux, Jerome Babineaux, Dylan Babineaux, Allen Babineaux, Karl Babineaux, and Wayne Comeaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marcel Babineaux and Wilson Boullion. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home by Gertrude Martin. The family request visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. The family would like to give special thanks to Lourdes Hospice and Mr. Babineaux’s sitters, Lisa and Kizzie. Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N.
