Wayne’s Fond Memories for the Raymond Blanco Tribute was submitted on March 1, 2021 and posted that day by Ed Dugas.

Coach approved my hire in 1984 and Iâ€™ve appreciated the man ever since. From fishing and hunting escapades (life threatening) to working at USL/UL (best years of my life) with him for over 25 years, to enjoying retirement and remembering the good old days, Coach has been the man!

What did I learn from others about Coach?
1. Never let him drive;
2. Bring extra shotgun shells to hunt;and
3. If you are friends with Coach – itâ€™s for a lifetime.

But what I learned from Coach was:
1. To be a better person, treat others fairly and equally;
2. Work hard, play hard; and
3. Cajun culture is unique, learn about it and appreciate it.

Thank you Coach for allowing me to share quite a few good years with you and the Student Affairs team, itâ€™s been a great ride!
