He earned a juris doctorate from LSU in 1972, and is a partner with the firm of Perrin, Landry & deLaunay. Perrin is a skills professor at Loyola Law School in New Orleans. In 2013, he donated papers and other materials to UL Lafayette that document his 15-year quest to obtain an official apology from England for the expulsion of Acadians from Nova Scotia in the 1700s. The apology was made on Dec. 9, 2003. Queen Elizabeth II signed a Royal Proclamation that acknowledged wrongs committed against Acadians and established “A Day of Commemoration of the Great Upheaval†that is recognized yearly on July 28. Perrin has earned recognition for promoting Acadian culture and history, including helping to launch UL Lafayette’s New Acadia Project. The University’s archeology and anthropology departments are attempting to locate the lost 1765 Acadian settlement on the Bayou Teche. Photo caption, from left: Warren A. (Credit: Doug Dugas / University of Louisiana at Lafayette) * * * * * * Weightlifting: Warren Perrrin Inducted into Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame 2007 Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame Inductees Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame Honors Significant Contributions to Louisiana (Angola, LA) � The Louisiana State Penitentiary Museum Foundation proudly announces its 2007 inductees into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame. The Justice Hall of Fame was created in 2005 to honor and acknowledge the men and women of Louisiana who have served their community, state, and nation in the honorable professions of law enforcement, judiciary, and related fields. These men and women, along with two others receiving special recognition awards, will be inducted during ceremonies on July 28, 2007. Warren A. Perrin � Considered, to be one of the best-known and remarkably accomplished attorneys in Cajun country. He serves as president of the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana. Warren A. Perrin was inducted in the “S” Club Hall of Fame in 1987. Perrin was a three-year letterman and a leader of USL’s nationally-known weightlifting program. A native of Lafayette, he helped lead the Cajuns to four national weightlifting team championships as well as four undefeated seasons in dual competition. Team captain of the squad in 1966 and 1967, Perrin placed third in the individual portion of the National Collegiate Championships in 1966 and improved to a second-place finish individually in 1967. He also won numerous state and regional titles and placed among the top three in every major competition he entered during his collegiate career, including national competition. Perrin was also know as one of the top student-athletes of his time, having made the Dean’s List 10 times during his career and graduating in the top ten percent of his class in 1969. He also served as vice-president of the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity, served on the Student Government Association and as a student representative of the Faculty Athletic committee, was twice an office holder with Gamma Beta Phi honor and service fraternity, was president of Kappa Alpha Order and was a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Perrin later graduated with honors from the LSU Law School in 1972 and won the American Jurisprudence Award for Achievement while at LSU. He currently serves as a senior partner in the law firm of Perrin, Landry, deLaunay, Dartez & Ouellet in Lafayette. Perrin served UL as President of the Alumni Association in 1991 – 1992 and continues to serve on boards including the UL Alumni Association. In 1990, he founded the Acadian Museum of Erath. Being appointed by Governors Edwards, Foster and Blanco, he serves as President of CODOFIL, the Council for Development of French in Louisiana.
