February 15, 2005 Hudson added as Louisiana’s offensive line coach

Ronald Hudson has been added to the University of Louisiana’s football staff and will coach the Ragin’ Cajun offensive line, head coach Rickey Bustle announced Monday.

Hudson, who previously served as offensive line coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville, replaces Mike Gibson, a member of Bustle’s staff for the past three years.

Gibson recently accepted a position with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Gibson was the Blue Bombers’ line coach in 2001, helping Winnipeg to a 14-4 record, before joining Bustle’s first UL staff.

While at TAMU-Kingsville, Hudson coached three all-conference players including Division II All-American Roy Stroud. TAMU-Kingsville finished the 2004 season with a 9-2 record and won its 26th Lone Star Conference title before losing in the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.

“I’m excited to have Ronald join our staff,” Bustle said. “He’ll bring a lot of energy to our coaches and to our offensive line. Hiring a high-quality person is a priority for our program, and I believe that we have succeeded in doing just that. He brings a multitude of experiences from a diverse background.”

Prior to joining the Javelinas in May 2004, Hudson served on the football coaching staff at Texas-El Paso. He was the tight ends coach for two seasons beginning in 2001. Hudson was then promoted to defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator in 2003.

“I’m very fortunate to join the Louisiana football program,” Hudson stated. “The staff here has put the program on a winning track. My hope is to continue that progress and be a part of building a Sun Belt champion.”

Hudson is a 1987 graduate of Muskingum College, and started his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach at Louisville in 1991. He has also been at Illinois State, Urbana University, The Citadel, Lenoir Rhyne, Kent State, Southeast Missouri and Bowling Green.
