NEW IBERIA � Graveside services will be conducted for Mr. Robert Allen Funk, age 89, at 10:00 am Friday, September 11, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the US Navy Funeral Honor Detail Team.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday with a Life Remembrance Service at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until service time.

A native of Lawndale, California and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Funk passed away after a brief illness at11:13 pm on, Monday, September 7, 2015 at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Funk was a veteran of the US NAVY who served his country honorably in WWII and the Korean Conflict and retired after 20 years of active duty. He continued to serve his country for ten more years in the Navy Reserves.
He was employed at USL as maintenance superintendent and retired after 20 years of service. He enjoyed sports and volunteered his time forming the Little League at the Base and coaching from 1972-1978. He also enjoyed watching and supporting LSU.
Mr. Funk loved being outdoors, tending his garden and rose bushes, photographing animals and nature and reading.
He was a very generous man who supported St. Joseph Indian School, the Salvation Army, Special Olympics, Disabled Vets and Habitat for Humanity.

He is survived by five sons, Billy Singleton and wife Dianna of Lafayette; Robert Singleton and wife Amelia of Broussard; John Funk, Sr. and wife Loretta of Catahoula; George Funk of New Iberia and Richard Funk of Lafayette; five daughters, Theresa Robicheaux and husband Michael; Cynthia F. Robinson and husband Dale all of New Iberia; Cheryl F. Bodin and husband Larry of Erath; Denise F. Byers and husband Nathan of Carencro and Anita F. Fontenot of Deridder; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa MacDougall Funk; son, Bryan Thomas Funk; parents, George Austin and Agusta Rampmier Funk; granddaughter, Tasha Kay Robicheaux and three sisters, Clara Viguerie; Gladys Viguerie and Florence Hebert.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Gachassin, Jason Bodin, Chad Bodin, Nick Bodin, Brent Bodin, Derrick Broussard, John Funk, Jr., Danny Singleton and Bobby Singleton.

Donations may be made in his name to St. Joseph Indian School at P.O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326.
