Robert Angelle Finley Obituary September 22, 1950 – February 9, 2014

Breaux Bridge – A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Robert Angelle “Rocky” Finley, 63.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm on Thursday at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge.

Born September 22, 1950, Rocky died peacefully in his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Kent Finley and Agnes Mavis Angelle Finley.

He attended St. Bernard Elementary School and graduated from Breaux Bridge High School in 1968. He graduated from U.S.L. in 1973, where he played football. He worked in the oil industry for most of his career at Soloco/Newpark, Berry Brothers, UniFab and Maxam, as a controller accountant, as well as other financial services.

He loved to play softball, exercise, follow sports and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Finley Waguespack and husband, Eric, and son, Brandon Paul Finley and wife, Leslie. He is the proud grandfather to Joseph, Angelle, Cecile and Charlotte Waguespack and Luke Finley. He is also survived by his siblings, Kent David Finley (Linda), Cindy Finley Nolan (Mike), Bess Finley Dolan (Jim), and Mark Warren Finley (Sharon); many nieces and nephews, and the mother of his children, Paula Hendrick Finley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Finley, Eric Waguespack, Joseph Waguespack, Luke Finley, Mark Finley, and Kent Finley.

He was Speaker of the Louisiana House of Representatives and instrumental in obtaining funding for the building. At that time, the building was named Angelle Hall. After his death in 1979, the name was changed to the Robert J. Angelle Building. Willis Ducrest was the head of the Music Department at that time. Papa attended SLII and all three of his daughters graduated from SLI.”
