Bob wrote his Living Memorial to Coach Shipley for the 2001 Shipley Reunion. It is being used now for the Coach Shipley Tribute. Posted by Dr. Ed Dugas on Oct. 3, 2017.

Basketball Player, 61-66.

Graduate of Baker High 1961, where honors were All District, All Parish, and All State. Recruited by Coach Shipley and was red-shirted freshman year. Started as a freshman red-shirt the following year and started every game for four years. I was the leading rebounder as a guard my senior year and made First Team All Conference and Honorable Mention All-American.

My most rewarding experience as a player for Coach Shipley was winning the conference my junior and senior years. After graduation, I coached at Comeaux High for three years. I was named Coach of the Year at the end of my second year and won the district with a 16-0 record. I left the coaching profession in 1973 and was hired in the Laboratory at Exxonmobil where I have been employed for the past thirty years.

I still enjoy basketball, but I’d much rather play a good game of golf or go fishing since my body isn’t responding to my mind.

I currently live in Jarreau, La. on False River and am happy to say still married to my high school sweetheart Toni Barrett Cutrer. We have two siblings – a daughter, Kim, and a son, Dean. Recently, we have been blessed with a granddaughter, Taylor, who is the apple of my eye.

I can truthfully say Coach Beryl Shipley left a positive influence in both my private and professional lives. I am looking forward to renewing acquaintances with Coach Shipley and former players.
