Laurents Matthieu – UL Credit Union Staff 1973-2013 – January 15, 2015 Patricia L Matthieu Obituary LAFAYETTE ~ Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Mrs. Irving Matthieu, age 70, the former Patricia L. Laurents, who passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by family. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Matthieu was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was employed at University of Louisiana at Lafayette for 40 years, retiring as CEO of the Credit Union. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette. Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Irving Matthieu of Lafayette; two sons, Eric Matthieu and companion, Brenda Credeur Richard of Lafayette, Christopher Matthieu and wife, Melanie, of Cypress, TX; one daughter, Melissa M. Robichaux and husband, Shane, of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Krystle Robichaux Broussard and husband, Jacob, Holden Robichaux and fiancée, Telly, Jacob Matthieu, Kolby Broussard, Megan Matthieu, Justin Richard, Blake Richard; one great grandchild, Wyatt Shane Broussard; two sisters, Linda Savoy and Donna Laurents, both of Lafayette; and one brother-in-law, Benny Comeaux of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph Laurents and the former Doris Guidry, both natives of Lafayette; and one sister, Gertrude Lynn Comeaux. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Pallbearers will be Eric Matthieu, Christopher Matthieu, Jacob Matthieu, Jacob Broussard, Kolby Broussard, Shane Robichaux and Holden Robichaux. The Matthieu family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful caregivers, Patsy Arcenaux and Tamara Taylor, the staff at Nursing Specialties, and would especially like to express their gratitude to her dearest friend, Barbara Power.
