Nemour (Steve) De Laneuville graduated from St. Peter Parochial School and Leon Godchaux High School in Reserve, Louisiana in 1952 and 1956, respectively. He attended the University of Louisiana in Lafayette on a football scholarship and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1960. In 1961, he received his Master of Science degree in Education from Northwestern State University. In 1971, he earned his Doctor of Education degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
Nemour De Laneuville is a lifetime educator, and he began his teaching career in 1961 at Kenner Junior High School, Kenner, Louisiana. He was employed as a teacher, basketball, baseball, and football coach at Leon Godchaux High School, Reserve, Louisiana. In 1968, his Leon Godchaux High School baseball team won the school’s first baseball state championship. After receiving his Doctor of Education degree, he taught at Georgia Southwestern State University, Americus, Georgia; University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida; College of the Bahamas, Nassau, Bahamas; Hillsborough Community College, Tampa, Florida; and University of Louisiana, Lafayette, Louisiana.
De Laneuville authored one book and thirteen articles that appeared in professional journals. The author has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, South America, and Europe.
Nemour De Laneuville is a past grand knight and 3rd Degree member of Msgr. Jean Eyraud, Council No. 2436, and a 4th Degree member of Archbishop Blenk, Assembly No. 0318, Knights of Columbus. He is a 3rd Degree member of Msgr.Jean Eyraud Council for over 44 years, and a 4th degree member of Archbishop Blenk Assembly for over 37 years.
Nemour De Laneuville is proud and honored to return to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology. He is thankful to have the opportunity to give back to the university for what the university has given to him.
