Home Phone: -- Oct. 21, 2010 update by Mike I walked on to the USL football team in 1973 as a wide receiver. I was originally on Coach Russ Faulkinberry’s last USL team. The next year in 1974, I played under Coach Augie Tammariello’s “Operation Turnaround.” Both coaches have had a positive impact on me. I will never forget the night in 1974 in New Orleans when we came within an eyelash of upsetting 40-point favorite Tulane, falling just short by a score of 17-16. In the locker room before the game, we could palpably sense that we were going to do something special that night. I am grateful to Coach Faulkinberry, who passed away in 2005, for making me tougher and to Coach Tammariello for teaching me that it is never too late to turn things around. My USL experience will always be with me, as will my gratitude to both of these fine coaches and their coaching staffs. * * * * * * * * * *
