I joined the UL Athletics Department as a student in August 2001 and have been employed in the sports information department ever since. I currently hold the title of Assistant Sports Information Director – a position I’ve been in full-time since December 2002.

I feel lucky to be where I am today. It’s simply a product of being in the right place at the right time. I graduated in May 2002 and was ready to begin my career. It was always a dream of mine to one day to be an SID for my favorite team. One problem was that no positions existed and I was likely to have to start my career elsewhere. I volunteered my time during the summer 2002 and as fate would have it a position would become open in August 2002. The process worked in my favor and nearly four months later I was the recipient of the job that I have coveted. I owe a debt of gratitude to our Director of Athletics Nelson Schexnayder and Sports Information Director Daryl Cetnar for trusting in me, a new face right out of college, and giving me the opportunity to succeed.

I can truly say that it is an honor and privilege to serve in a capacity that allows me to promote and bring recognition to my alma mater. I feel lucky to be a part of a unique situation which allows me to be a witness to history – to be a part of team. From the softball team advancing to the Women’s College World Series and Brooke Mitchell setting the school strikeout record to the men’s basketball team winning the Sun Belt Tournament and advancing to the “Big Dance”, I have been able to live out my dreams and be a part of a proud tradition.

Being a native of the Acadiana area (Youngsville area resident, attended Erath High School), holding my current position has allowed me to fulfill my dreams. When I was a young kid (as early as age five) my parents took me to numerous Ragin’ Cajuns athletics events. It was there I first developed my interest and the dream of one day being a part of it all. Fast forward to today, and I am living proof that dreams do indeed come true.

Here’s a few words of wisdom to live by:
(1) Be persistent, because with an idea, determination, and the right tools, you can do great things. Let your instincts, your intellect and your heart guide you.

Below are a couple of quotes that I have leaned upon through the years:
“Set out each day believing in your dreams. Know without a doubt that you were made for amazing things.” – Josh Hinds
“When you have a dream you’ve got to grab it and never let go.” – Carol Burnett

I’ve learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become. The simple reality is most any level of lasting achievement takes effort. Often it means going above and beyond the call of duty – foregoing something in return for the results you’re sure you’ll reap later on.

MY TENURE WITH UL ATHLETICS:
Assistant Sports Information Director – Dec. 2002-present;
Student SID – August 2001-May 2002;
Men’s Basketball SID – 2002-present;
Softball SID – 2002-present;
Women’s Soccer SID – 2001-present; and
Volleyball SID – 2002-present.

I was a student sports writer for the Vermilion, Spring 2000 semester through Spring 2001 semester.
