Louis’ Fond Memories of Coach Blanco were submitted on April 16, 2021 and posted that day by Ed Dugas.

Many people do not associate Coach Blanco with religious thoughts and worship. I know that is not the real “Coach Blanco”.

We always said a prayer after each game and “took a knee” during practice, oftentimes it was after someone “got his head rattled”.

I remember a game we had in Loreauville and “Butsy” Wallet was the running back. All night we were tackling him with 2 to 4 players at a time. We stopped “Butsy” and won the game!

Coach was elated and when we got on the bus, he asked me to lead the team in a prayer…I lowered my head and without thinking, I began to pray…..”Bless me Father for I have sinned……..” Coach wanted to kill me, but even he could not withhold, at least, a smile.
