Dear Ed,

How are things in the (yette) as we use to say back in the days. Thanks for contacting me again. Ed, I attended USL back in 1988 a transfer from Ranger Jr. College in Ranger,TX. When I heard James had received a scholarship from USL I was excited. I thought it was cool that he was 1 hour awaiy from home (Ville Platte) and my mother would be able to attend the games. With me beening so far away in West Texas, about 300 mile west of Dallas about 100 miles east of Abilene, real cowboy land. My family was not able to watch me play because I was so far away and there was no school (JC) near the state or in the state. So, I thought what a chance to play with my brother again and near home were my family can both watch us play together again as we did in high school. So, I pack my bags and came on to Cajun Land (USL) were the athletic staff (Stokley’s) accepted me as a walk-on. I had the opportunity to meet players like Brian Mitchell, Clifford Champ, Wade Bulter, James Atkins (Big Hack), Louis Age(Heavy D), Adam Johnson (my roommate),John Wolf, John LeBlanc(Zooman), Ronald Gunner(Big Cheese), and Dexter & Nick Gatewood – the names could go on and on. Those guys made me feel welcome to the program. I really felt at home and knowing home (Ville Platte) was only an hour away. Ed, I was an defensive end (DE) ED we call it.:) Lined up over the tight-end strong side. Coach Beach was the (DE) coach. At that time I was about 245 to 250 lbs.. It was a pleasure to practice and hang out with all guys.
Ed, I will save the rest for later.

God Bless YOU
Kevin (Kimo) Freeman
