Well, time for another update!

While attending USL, I was a member of the USL Sweethearts Dance Team. Favorite times were: Pep Rallies (dancing on top of The Keg), performing at halftime for football and basketball games and marching in the Homecoming Parades. My picture (dancing at halftime) appeared, big as day, on the front page of The Daily Advertiser on September 6, 1980 for the game that kicked-off the football season that year. My friends went CRAZY! I was also a participant in USL’s Miss University Pageant (not sure, I think I came in 3rd). In (I believe) 1980.

I choreographed and taught the Homecoming halftime show for the Alumni Sweethearts in the early 90’s, as well as serving as choreographer for the 2014 Sweetheart Reunion. Which was a blast! We had a beautiful reunion dinner, rode in the Homecoming Parade, participated in the Cajun Walk and were presented on the field at halftime. We even had a little routine to the UL Pride of Acadiana Marching Band’s “RESPECT”, which was a tradition that began during our years as USL Sweethearts! 🙂 Pretty exciting stuff! We all had a great time representing the Cajuns once again!

I have been a dance instructor for 40 years (and counting), and am a member of Dance Masters of America and the Louisiana Association of Dance Masters. I am also a Realtor and Travel Agent, specializing in theme park and cruise vacations. My husband and I still reside in Lafayette. I am the mother of 5 children (2 boys – Blake & Jace and 3 girls – Gracey, Kalli Rose and Michele), and “Momsie” to 4 grandchildren (Ruth, Stryder, Ella and Micah). As you can imagine, I keep very busy being involved in their lives and activities.

My oldest daughter, Gracey Domingue, followed in mom’s footsteps, dancing on Ragin’ Jazz from 2006 – 2011, serving as Co-Captain for 1 year and Captain for 2 years. Gracey majored in Performing Arts as a Dance Major, graduating as Outstanding Graduate for her college in 2011. She has continued dancing, teaching, coaching and choreographing since that time. She is currently the Kids Minister at The Bayou Church in Lafayette, using her God-given talents to work and worship with children ages Kindergarten through 5th grade. Yes, they learn dance moves! 🙂

Kalli Rose Segura, my youngest daughter, is also dancing in our footsteps! She is a freshman this year and dancing her way through UL on Ragin’ Jazz!! Kalli Rose took the field for the first time at the football game last Saturday night. She is very excited to be a part of our family legacy of dance at UL, and is getting her program started at UL by majoring in Psychology, and also “going Greek” with Kappa Delta Sorority! As you might guess, she is also taking a dance class as an elective at UL, and she is an Assistant Dance Instructor at a local dance studio and a member of the UDA Staff. Needless to say, we are all very proud of her as she takes on the next gen of UL dancers!

Yes, momma is proud of her girls! And so thankful to have been a part of such great times at our hometown University.

With tons of Cajun Pride and RESPECT, I’m so proud of all of of our UL Cajuns!!

Let’s Geaux Cajuns!
