Julie Bolton Falgout, MBA, PhD

Dr. Julie Bolton Falgout is the Executive Director of Planned Giving for the LSU Foundation.

She formerly served as President and Chief Executive Officer of The University of Louisiana Lafayette Foundation from 1996-2018. During that period, Dr. Falgout’s leadership significantly impacted the organization, steadily transforming the Foundation from a $36 million organization to over $200 million. Her accomplishments at the foundation made a substantial impact on overall organizational growth through identifying major contributions and resources, reorganizing the operations and the endowment investments, acquiring real estate and constructing facilities. During her tenure, she was responsible for overall administrative operations of the Foundation, including: endowment management, philanthropy and securing resources, donor cultivation and engagement, recognition programs, organizational compliance, contracts and successions, board recruitment and volunteer management.

She is a recognized leader and mentor, successfully recruiting strong support teams and mentoring their professional growth. She has developed a proficiency for engaging volunteers and has consistently recruited top leaders and donors to partner with the University and alumni communities. She continues to make a substantial contribution to the development of best practices in philanthropy, board governance, compliance and fiscal initiatives for the nonprofit industry at large, through teaching and coordinating nonprofit seminars for the region.

Julie earned her bachelor’s degree and a human resources master’s degree from LSU, and later went on to earn an MBA from UL Lafayette. She attained a paralegal certification and completed a Doctorate degree (2016) in international business, with a concentration in nonprofit management, from the University of Grenoble International School of Management.

CASE International is a well-known professional organization for philanthropy in education. This distinction of serving on the National CASE-IRF Committee allows her the opportunity to work with colleagues across the United States as well as internationally, seeking innovation within the field of philanthropy for higher education and University Foundations.

She was appointed to serve on an advisory sub-committee for the Louisiana State Board of Regents Investment Committee representing the University of Louisiana System schools and assisted in the revision and development of improved investment policies and guidelines for the state matching funds program; the revision of the UPMIFA Act for the state; and worked with the state’s Foundation Consortium. She served on various university committees including, Campus Sustainability Council, Policy and Naming Committees, and Candidate Selections Committees. Early in her career, Julie worked as the Director of Development and Alumni Relations at LSU, Baton Rouge campus for the Agriculture College division. Her professional career in advancement and academia began in Houston, Texas, working for Baylor College of Medicine and Methodist Hospital.
