In nine games last season, Hundley – a transfer from UL and former prep standout at St. Thomas More – completed 112 of 205 passes for 1,307 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions. There has been speculation in the offseason that Hundley is in danger of losing his position to Tyler Wolfe, a junior who is transferring to NSU from Louisville. “John Hundley is our starting quarterback, but Wolfe creates competition that you need,” Peveto said Monday night at a gathering of NSU fans. Wolfe, a native of Baton Rouge who starred at Central High, appeared in two games in 2008 for Louisville, completing 2-of-4 passes for 14 yards. Players report to practice Aug. 9. “There’s a lot to get ready for, but we got further along in the spring than we thought we would,” Peveto said. “We’ll be reteaching the same things we taught for 15 days in spring ball. Sometimes the kids really pick it up the second time around.” The Demons have been going through summer conditioning on NSU’s new turf the last two weeks. “I’m excited to get started here,” said Peveto, a former assistant under Les Miles at LSU. “The turf is awesome, too. I sat in my office and watched it go in. There’s more to it than the average person thinks.” The Hundley File 2008 AT NSU Completed 112 of 205 passes for 1,307 yards with 8 TDs, 3 INTs … rushed for 246 yards and 4 TDs … completed 29 of 44 passes for 294 yards at Stephen F. Hundley, a Lafayette native and product of St. Thomas More, did not see action in UL’s first three games this season. He played in two games as the Cajuns’ backup quarterback as a redshirt freshman in 2006, playing 11 snaps against North Carolina A&T and 12 against Eastern Michigan. He had redshirted in the 2005 season. “He (Hundley) and Connor had kind of been going neck-and-neck in practice,” Bustle said. Daily Advertiser, September 17, 2007
