Jaye Nayreau joins the Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball program after one season as an assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi. While at USM, he worked with all aspects of recruiting, while assisting with the Lady Eagles basketball camps.

Nayreau worked with perimeter players at USM, while also scouting opponents. In addition, he was the community relations and service liaison for the program last season.

Prior to his work at USM, Nayreau was an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 season. At SFA, his duties included day-to-day operations, on-the-floor coaching, recruiting and scouting. In addition to his coaching requirements, Nayreau was the Lumberjacks academic coordinator, community service organizer and summer camp liaison.

Prior to coaching at Stephen F. Austin, Nayreau was an assistant coach at Dodge City Community College (2005-07) where he was involved with every aspect of the women’s program, from in-game coaching to scouting and game preparation. He also handled schedule preparations and served as student-athlete advisor for the team.

Before his stop in Dodge City, Nayreau spent the 2004-05 season on the Saint Louis University staff as a graduate assistant.

Nayreau began his coaching career at Sam Houston State, where he was a student assistant during the 2001-02 season.

Nayreau, a native of Hockley, Texas, received his bachelor’s degree from SHSU in December 2002. Two years later Nayreau graduated from Baylor with a master’s in sports psychology. Nayreau has also completed work toward a doctorate in counseling.
