Irwin “Coach, Moose, Ole Paw, Bull” Sibille

August 9, 2011

January 28, 1940 – August 6, 2011 Grand Coteau — Funeral services for Mr. Irwin Sibille, also known to many as: “Ole Paw”, “Moose”, “Coach”, and “Bull”, age 71, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.
Father Ted Broussard will celebrate the Mass along with concelebrants: Abbott James Liprie, Fr. Wayne Duet, Fr. Joe Breaux, Fr. Mike Champagne, Fr. Joseph Brennen, Fr. Joseph Stemmanns, Fr. Jerome Frey, Fr. Arthur Warren, Fr. Daniel Picard, Fr. Austin Leger, Fr. Berney Lebiedz, and Fr. Richard Broussard. Music will be provided by Ron Moreau and Phylis Simar.
Mr. Sibille was born in Sunset, LA; and was a resident of Prairie Ronde. He passed from life on Saturday, August 6, 2011, in Opelousas General Health System. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and a wonderful friend to all that knew him. He is going to be sadly missed.
He earned a Masters in Physical Education, Masters in Behavioral Science, and a Masters and Doctorate in Environmental Science. He was a USL Football Player, USL Defensive Coordinator, Commissioner of College Athletics for the State of LA, Owner of S & S Wholesale Florist, Owner of Haggard Truck Lines, and Owner of Environmental Assurance, Inc. He was a counselor with Hospice, a Eucharistic Minister, “Coach” at Cursillo Center, Order of Perpetual Adoration, Rotarian, and an avid Golfer.
He is survived by sons, Dr. John Scott Sibille and wife, Paulette Olivier Sibille of Sunset; Tony Sibille of Costa Rica; Dr. Billy Sibille, DPT and wife, Suzanne Deslatte Sibille of St. Augustine, FL; daughters, Lisa Sibille Dooley and husband, Patrick Dooley of New Iberia; Wendy Saracino and husband, Jason V. Saracino of Sunset; brothers, Roydain Sibille, Winfred Sibille, Frederick Sibille, Dennis Sibille, Darrell Sibille, and Paul Sibille; sisters, Lilburn Leonard and Lou Wilda Andrus; sister-in-law, Judy Riley and husband, Pat Riley of Monroe; and 15 grandchildren.
Irwin was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Ann Landry Sibille; his parents, Leo J. Sibille and Pauline Lavergne Sibille; foster son, Bill “Black Jack” Landry; brothers, Carlys Sibille, Gordain Sibille, and Stanley Sibille; sister, Madeleine Korn; and father and mother-in-law, John Landry and Hilda Stelly Landry.
“Paw” bearers will be his grandsons: Christopher Dooley, Nicholas Dooley, Cody Sibille, Jacob Sibille, Beau Sibille, Jonathan Dooley, Ross Sibille, and Ben Dooley. Honorary “Paw” bearers will be his grandchildren: Dante Saracino, Hayden Sibille, Bram Saracino, Nicole Benoit Dooley, Brittany Sibille, Julia Sibille, Kaitlin Dooley, and Kathryn Lilley.
Visiting hours will be observed on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Wednesday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A Eulogy with Musical Interlude will be held at 6:00 p.m. and a Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special Thank you to Dr. Fernando Allemany for loving his care.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in memory of Irwin to the Cursillo Center, 3651, Highway 104, Opelousas, LA 70570.

It is with great sadness that I inform you that Coach Irwin Sibille passed away today (Saturday, August 6). He will be sadly missed by the Ragin’ Cajun football family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, especially his son Scott who played with many of you on this mailing list.

OBITUARY

Jeanette Ann Sibille

GRAND COTEAU – Funeral services for Jeanette Ann Landry Sibille 69, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery in Grand Coteau.

The Revs’ Joe Breaux, Wayne Duet, Ted Broussard, Mike Champagne, Jermone Frey, Joseph Stemmons, James Lipiri, Arthur Warren, Ambrose Akalawu and Joseph Brennen will celebrate the Mass.

Music will be provided by Soloist Gina Arnaud and accompanied by Julee Bundy

Mrs. Jeanette was born in Grand Coteau and lived there for many years; she was a resident of Lafayette for a long time and then settled with her husband Irwin in Prairie Ronde. She passed from life on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Lafayette, La.

Mrs. Sibille was a homemaker and also the owner of S&S Wholesale Florist in Lafayette, she served as a spiritual counselor for Hospice and was a leader of the Cursillo in Prairie Ronde, La. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and a wonderful friend to all that knew her. She is going to be sadly missed.

She is survived by husband; Irwin Sibille, Prairie Ronde; sons, Dr. Scott Sibille and wife Paulette of Sunset, La, Tony Sibille of Fouchon, La, Dr. Billy Sibille DPT and wife Suzanne of St. Augustine, FL.; daughters, Lisa Dooley and husband Patrick of New Iberia, Wendy Saracino and husband Jason of Sunset, La.; sister, Judy Riley and husband Pat of Monroe, La.; 15 grandchildren.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilda Marie Stelly Landry and foster son, Bill “Black Jack” Landry.

Pallbearers will be J. Scott Sibille, Tony Sibille, Billy Sibille, Patrick Dooley, Jason Saracino, Chris Dooley, Nick Dooley, Cody Sibille.

Visiting hours will be observed Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau. Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
