ACHEE SR., HENRY AUGUSTIN

Died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1986, at 12:45 a.m. in Plaquemine. He was 82, a native of Labadieville and a resident of White Castle . He was a retired White Castle High School teacher and coach. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, White Castle , 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 to 9:45 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by the Rev. Daniel Walsh. Entombment in Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Baldwin. Survived by wife, Lois Smith Achee , White Castle ; two sons, Henri A. Achee Jr., Houston, Texas, and Louis W. Achee , Titusville, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Estelle Roussell, Baldwin; three brothers, Harold L. and Charlet P. Achee , both of Baldwin, and Robert Achee , Labadieville; and two grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Edgar and Aurelia Charlet Achee . He organized Senior Citizen’s at White Castle . He was a life member of Whaley-Savoy American Legion Post No. 212, a member of Retired Teacher’s Association, White Castle Athletic Hall of Fame, board of directors of Pelican Boy’s State, and a member and former president of White Castle Hunting Club. He received the Honor Coaches award in 1957 for 20 years service. He received a bachelor’s degree in social science at Southwest Louisiana Institute (USL) in 1926, where he lettered in football and track, and a master’s degree in education at LSU.
