Dr. Gerald E. Waguespack
(1949 – 2013)

LAFAYETTE – Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Basil Catholic Church for Dr. Gerald E. Waguespack, 63, who died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Heart Hospital in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Basil Cemetery.

Reverend A. Rex Broussard, Jr., Pastor of St. Basil Catholic Church in Judice, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Phyllis Matherne and Collette Foret. Giftbearers will be Alycee Naquin and Ana Nanney.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Aimee Hebert Waguespack; his mother, Elaine Naquin Waguespack; one brother-in-law, Chris Hebert and his wife Leslie; and one niece, Jennifer Hebert.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Waguespack.

A resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of his life, Dr. Gerald E. Waguespack received his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Nicholls State University, his Masters in Music Education from USL, now ULL, and he received his Ph.D in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Waguespack retired from the Lafayette School System after working with them for 36 years. He was currently working as Assistant Band Director for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Basil Catholic Church. Dr. Waguespack was a loving and devoted husband, son, and friend to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hebert, Mike Hefner, Perry Lopez, Derle Long, Scott Guidry, and Tom Fraschillo.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN location on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday by the Knight’s of Columbus from St. Basil Church at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Dr. Waguespack would like donations be made to the UL Music Department at 601 East St. Mary Street, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503.
