Obituary: Gerald “Jerry” Reaux, Jr. – February 9, 2014

Gerald Reaux Jr. (1961 – 2014)

LAFAYETTE – Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Gerald “Jerry” Reaux, Jr., 53, who died on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lafayette.

Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Concelebrants will be Reverend Neil Pettit and Reverend Joseph F. Brennan. Lectors will be Rusty Cloutier and James Jeffrey Bellamy. Giftbearers will be Raymond Joseph Reaux and Michelle Reaux Canty. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist will sing “Ave Maria”, “Be Not Afraid”, “Shepherd Me, Oh God”, “Pie Jesu”, and “On Eagles’ Wings” for the service.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Renee Cosper Reaux; two daughters, Kaitlyn Reaux Johnson and her husband, Kelsey, and Grace Elizabeth Reaux; one son, Parker Wayne Reaux; his parents, Gerald and Patricia Reaux; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sammie and Shirley Cosper; one brother, Raymond Joseph Reaux and his wife, Kathy; and one sister, Michelle Reaux Canty and her husband, Chris.

He was preceded in death by two of his children, Madeline Cosper Reaux and Ryan Hampton Reaux.

Jerry was employed with MidSouth Bank Corporation as Chief Operating Officer. He was Chairman of the Board at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, and he was a very active member in the Lafayette community. Jerry was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. A friend to all who knew him and a loving husband, father, son, son-in-law, and brother, he will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be Parker Wayne Reaux, Raymond Joseph Reaux, Marc Frederick Mouton, Kelsey Jacob Johnson, Glenn Paul Courville, and Benjamin Frederick Mouton.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN location on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
