August 18, 1922 – May 27, 2017

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Dr. G.A. “Buddy” Beaullieu, 94, who passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017, in New Iberia.

Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant.

A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.

Dr. Beaullieu was born in Jeanerette on August 18, 1922 to the late Gerald and Laurice Beaullieu, and was a 1938 graduate of Jeanerette High School. He attended Southwestern Louisiana Institue where he was a member of the tennis team. He received a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1944 from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine, and then served as a doctor in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Beaullieu married Mary Beryl Littell and settled in New Iberia to raise seven children. He started his medical practice as a General Practioner and delivered hundreds of babies throughout his career. After the death of his first wife, he married Jo Anna Mouhot Dowling in 1990, and they had a loving marriage for 27 years.

“Buddy” enjoyed golf, playing bridge, fishing, reading, working in the yard, and telling jokes. He was a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Anna Mouhot Beaullieu; sons, Buster Beaullieu and wife Mary, Troy Dowling and wife Kelly; daughters, Beth Cashman and husband Ty, Becky Valls and husband Audie, Bonnie Girouard and husband Steve, Babette Beaullieu, Bitsy Williams and fiance’ Huey Kern, Barbara Sinitiere and husband Mike, Patricia Darby and husband David; sister, Geraldine Angers; Grandchildren, Beau, Charlie, & Paul Beaullieu, Betsy, Jake, & Beaumont Bradbury, Carmen Valls Beck, Edward Valls, Charles & Dustin Wattigny, Spencer & Nick Girouard, Simone Sinitiere Dobard, Michelle Sinitiere Theall, Shane Sinitiere, Kevin & Joslyn Darby, Ethan, Evan, Luke, & Laine Dowling; great grandchild, 19 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Beaullieu, Beau Beaullieu, Charlie Beaullieu, Charles Wattigny, Dustin Wattigny, Spencer Girouard, Nick Girouard, Shane Sinitiere, Edward Valls, Evan Dowling, Kevin Darby, and Ethan Darby.

Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Schwing, Pierre Schwing, Don Bonin, Dr. Harold Chastant, and Gerald Angers, Jr.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Carl Ditch, Dr. Paul Gulotta, Dr. Clyde Roy, LTAC, Acadian Home Care, and Hospice of Acadiana.
