Freddie always reminded me of Barney Rubble on the Flinstones. I played touch football with him, Cllff O Neal, Phil Nugent, Charles Fuselier, Chris Cagle and Gene Sikes, his cousin, in 1968 and won the city league championship.

I caught the winning pass from Nugent who could throw the ball through a wall. Freddie was tough as nails, but funny and kind. What a great combination.
