Landry | Micro Information Systems Specialist 1 Former Banner-Tribune editor succumbs Mrs. Brown was an accomplished writer and author and editor, she received her bachelor of arts degree with highest distinction from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1945, was editor of the weekly newspaper the Franklin Banner- Tribune, 1945-1950; editor of the diocesan newsletter for older adults Diocese of La., Franklin, 1991; author of “Franklin through the Years,” 1972; and a book on the life of her son, entitled “Come into My World,” published by Publish America. She was past secretary of St. Mary Civil War Committee all beginning in 1999; recipient of the Civic Award Franklin Business and Professional Women’s Club in 1950; president of the Council on Aging; a very active member at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church where she was a licensed Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Vestry; a member of the Landmarks Society; and very active in the Fortnightly Club. A native of Patterson and longtime resident of Franklin, Fay was born to Alvan Paul Gautreau and Marie Stella Seghers Gautreau and married Dr. Hilton J. Brown on Aug.12, 1950. She is survived by son, Patrick Brown of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hilton J.Brown; one son, Robert Allan Brown; her parents, Alvan Paul Gautreau and Marie Stella Seghers Gautreau; two sisters, Carmen Augusta Gautreau and Marilyn G. Bigler; and an infant brother. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Mary Episcopal Church in Franklin from noon until service time at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. The Rev. Calvin Lane, Ph. D. will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Episcopal Church or to St. Mary Humane Society.
