Married in 1952 to Gordon “Donnie” Edward Dugal, Jr. Family of six children..Donnie was a graduate of the class of 52. I graduated in l962. Retired from the Lafayette Parish School System after 30 years of teaching. Presently active in my church Parish, playing bridge, doing voluntee work,enjoying friends and working on a second Red Jacket reunion.

Obituary: Elizabeth Brent “Betty Brent” Dugal
1933 – 2017

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Pius X Church for Elizabeth “Betty Brent” Dugal, 83, who passed away on February 13, 2017 at her home surrounded by family.

Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor, will be the Celebrant of the Mass.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty Brent was a longtime resident of Lafayette, LA. She was the daughter of the late Roy Schaeffler and the former Aline Boucher. Betty Brent graduated from Lafayette High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She was a teacher in the Lafayette Parish School System for 30 years where she taught speech, debate, history and psychology. After retirement she traveled, played bridge, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was an avid reader. Betty Brent was a devout Catholic and proud to serve on the building and design committee of the new St. Pius X Church. One of her last outings was to tour the new Church.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to friends, family and to Hospice of Acadiana for their support in her final days.

She is survived by her daughters, Dona Dugal, Debbie Desormeaux and husband, James, Denise Dugal and Dianne Paris and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Bryan Dugal, Andy Dugal, Racheal Bergeron, Crystal Hightower, Melissa Bastien, Christopher Dugal, Stefani McCollum, James Desormeaux, Jeremy Desormeaux, Jennifer Ferrel, Frances Black and Amy Paris; twenty one great grandchildren and her devoted sister, Roylyn Owens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon “Donnie” Dugal; two sons, Gordon Dugal, III and Michael “Brent” Dugal; and one grandson, Michael B. Dugal.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16, 2017 4:00pm until 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Dugal, Andy Dugal, Christopher Dugal, James Desormeaux, Jr., Jeremy Desormeaux, James Desormeaux and Michael Paris.

The family request donations in her memory be made to St. Pius X Building Fund or Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503 or on their website at http://www.hospiceacadiana.com/.
