Obituary: Donald E. Edwards – faculty member 1978-2005 – August 17, 2013

Donald E. Edwards

BATON ROUGE – A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the age of 74. He was a graduate of North Texas State University and earned a Ph.D. in Accounting at the University of Arkansas, where he met his wife Judy. He was a professor and department head at several universities, including University of Louisiana at Lafayette and University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was also passionate about mentoring youth through coaching Little League baseball and sharing his love of baseball with his son and his grandsons.

Don leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Judy Turner Edwards; daughter, Erin Edwards and her fiancé, Cris Cheek; daughter-in-law, Sharon Edwards; two grandchildren, Reed and Cameron Edwards; and sister, Billie Doris King.

He is preceded in death by a son, William “Bill” Edwards.

A visitation will be held at CrossPoint Baptist Church, 14965 Airline Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 12 p.m. until religious services at 1 p.m., conducted by Rev. Byron Townsend and Rev. Nick Taylor. Interment will follow in Oak Lane Memorial Park in Prairieville.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, to whom the family would like to extend a special thanks for their compassionate care, or to a charity/organization of your choice.
