Playing on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Winter Series, the native of South Surrey, British Columbia, had four straight top-10 finishes and five straight top-15 outings, including a win in the Kingwood Classic in Houston Feb. 18-19. Carrey, a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference pick for the Ragin’ Cajuns, wrapped up the Winer Series with a 10th-place finish in the Panther Trail Championship at The Woodlands, Texas, held Feb. 22-24. Carrey was among the leaders the first two days of the $17,500 event with a 70-71 start before a final-day 76 left him at one-over-par 217 and in 10th place. One week earlier at the Kingwood Classic in Kingwood, Texas, Carrey carded a 67-67–134 score to win the weather-shortened even by two strokes and claim the $3,300 first prize. Prior to that, he had finished tied for sixth at the Wood Forest Open and tied for seventh at the Bentwater Open during January’s Adams Tour stops. He was tied for 15th at the Cypresswood Open in December after missing the cut in his first two Tour events. Despite playing only seven of the Tour’s 12 events, Carrey finished the Winter Series ranked 12th on the money list with $6,465 in earnings. The Adams Tour begins its regular series in March. * * * * * * * * * * Golf: Carrey Finishes NCAA Regional in Top 50 May 17, 2009 Courtesy RaginCajuns.com Devin Carrey finished 44th at the NCAA Stillwater Regional STILLWATER, Okla.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s golfer Devin Carrey concluded play in the 2009 NCAA Stillwater Regional in a tie for 44th. Carrey shot a 12-over par round of 84 on the final day of competition to finish the tournament at 19-over par. Carrey finished the tournament with eight birdies and 29 holes of even par. �I am really proud of Devin,” head coach Theo Sliman stated. �The course played tough and the competition was extremely tough. He went out there and competed hard, but didn’t get the results I am sure he wanted. Despite that, Devin finished in the top 50 with this competition and I think that shows just how good he is. �He was a great collegiate golfer; a great ambassador for the University; and a great young man. I wish him all the luck in the future. Carrey led UL with a 73.4 stroke average. He had team-best eight rounds below par, including five rounds in the 60s. Carrey carded 13 rounds of par or better. During the golf season, he posted nine top 25 finishes in 12 tournaments, including six top 10 finishes. Carrey turned in the Cajuns’ low 36 hole total with a six-under par (138) at the Louisiana Classics and had best 54-hole tournament for UL with a six-under par (210) at the Mean Green Classic.
