Home Phone: 337-981-1908 Because softball was of great interest to me, I volunteered to be an unpaid, unofficial assistant coach in 1981. Time were tough as we had to play games at the city parks, use old basketball warm ups and eat at Burger King on the road trips. Later we made a make-shift field on the corner of Reinhardt and Betrand, but foul balls were tough on the cars. Finally, we moved to the present field but had to travel through the woods to reach it as Cajun Dome Blvd was not there yet. Most of the kids were not on scholarship and played it for the love of the game. The reward came finally when we won that first conference championshsip.
