Have two daughters. Traci graduated from L.S.U.(undergraduate) and University of Alabama (Masters Degree). Jamie attended the University of Oklahoma on a softball scholarship. She then attended and graduated from O.U. Tulsa medical school with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I teach school at Edgar Martin Middle School in Lafayette and coached at Acadiana High School. Now coach at Edgar Martin.

Little known factoid – I scored the first defensive touchdown in Cajun Field – an interception return for a touchdown against Santa Clara University and a quarterback named Clyde LaBaron.

Inspirational Finalist: Charles Fox of Edgar Martin

What made you become a teacher?
I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in students’ lives. Our chances to influence people can come in all forms but when can we have the greatest impact? Teaching young minds right from wrong, how to succeed, who they are – these things are important.

What do you like about teaching?
The challenge. Who can really make a difference in a young person’ life? Who sets a course and direction for someone that they will carry all their days? Teachers do this every day. Each of us only has one lifetime so make the best of it for something – this is what teachers do!

What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from the faces and hearts of the students I teach. My students do not come from successful backgrounds. They have many problems and seem to be lost in the shuffle. To give these kids a ray of hope, to reach one of them so that their life can be better – that inspires me!
