Obituary
Charles J. “Buddy” Budd, Jr.

OPELOUSAS – Funeral services for Mr. Charles J. “Buddy” Budd, Jr., age 80, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008, in the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park of Opelousas. Father Pete Smith will conduct the service.

Buddy was a native and long time resident of Opelousas. He passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at his residence.

He was a teacher for many years at Park Vista Elementary. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country and was a member of the American Legion.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, LAE, NEA, and SLAE. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He was a hero to his family and all those whose lives he touched especially his students. He will be remembered for his many admirable qualities especially his unique sense of humor. He was an outstanding athlete both in high school and college. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia Latour Budd of Opelousas; one son, C. J. Budd III of Lafayette; one daughter: Kathleen Budd LeBouef and husband, Dr. Corbett LeBouef of Abbeville; one sister, Katherine Budd Ward of Opelousas; grandchildren: Vanessa Teicher, Charles “Jay” Budd IV, Edward R. Budd, Nicholas W. Budd and wife, Jamie; great-grandchildren: T. J., Tate and Jenna Teicher, Zoe Budd, Caroline Budd, and Bailey Budd.

Preceded in death by his parents: Charles J. Budd, Sr., and Rena McKinney Budd; and brother, Dr. James M Budd.

Pallbearers will be Charles Budd IV, Edward R. Budd, Nicholas Budd, John Considine, Robert Guillory, Corbett J. LeBouef III, and Corbett J. LeBouef IV. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Casanova, Sal Diesi, Dr. Glen Hunt, August Ducharme, Norman Budd, and Albert David.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, July 4, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

A Rosary service will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
