PRESENTLY retired, moved back to Louisiana and living in DeRidder.

Attended U(S)L from 66 to 68 and then 70 thru 73.
AFROTC drill team 1966-68. marched in numerous N.O. mardi gras parades as well as performances in Lafayette area.
Spent 2 years in the Army (68-69) to include tour of Vietnam in 1969. Was a walk-on Spring of 1970, injured my ankle in the spring and again just before fall 1970 practice, thus ending any hopes of a college football career.
Close friends with many of football players 70-73. Classes with few players 66-67.
Very close to coaches and basketball players 66-67 and 70-73.
Early years at USL was just being a student, did get to know Marvin Winkler pretty good, use to let him use my car some. Worked doors for basketball games at old men’s gym with Danny Able when Blackman was being renovated.
January 1970 returned from Viet Nam after 2-years service with the U. S. Army and life started with a bang. Got to sit on bench at Mcneese game in LC (no seats) thanks to Coach Shipley, met Bo and new players. Became Veteran’s Club President, that became the start of a college political career. Walk-on for football, picked up nickname of Trigger from equipment manager, Louis Polk. At beginning of spring practice, tore an ankle. Became involved with SGA. Fall of 70, reinjured ankle and end of football. Attended football party after season at Pinhook’s with coaches, players, cheerleaders and friends, oh what a night. Was in Grantland Rice Bowl parade in BR (cheerleaders rode on my car).

Served on numerous SGA committees 1970 thru 1973.
Spring of 71 at SGA meeting where it was requested we drop Dixie after fight song, concurred and went to band with request. Second home game band played Respect, with Theta Xis, bugged band all night and rest of season to play it a again, rest is history. SGA asked me to be Homecoming Judge. 72 Homecoming Chairman, revamp program, new parade, new rules. Alumni honored me at their events. Maintained close ties with both football and basketball teams. Usually took Bo, Freddie and PT to Blackman for home games. Became city cop full time plus full time student in 73.
After graduation worked for Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans, Ft. Polk and Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. Have been in private construction industry since late 1980.

Divorced father of 3 sons: Nathan (24), is in the Air Force, completing training at Andrews AFB here in Maryland and then to Dover AFB, Delaware in Mar. 2010, John Robert (20), finishing last semister at community college in business, works for AirTran and at gym all the time, Ricky (18), entered Navy in August after spring break after high school. Completed basic when still 17, now at navy’s Nuclear Power school in Charleston, SC, 2-year program and then off to be a submariner.
Besides flying which I seldom have time for, I am very active in the Alumni Association, starting the Baltimore-Washington Chapter in 81, President three times,and VP numerous times.
I use to be very active coaching youth sports, had national soccer license, also coach baseball, lacrosse, tennis, basketball, football,rugby & BMX moto-cross, to include some JV as an assistant. Was scout for the high school football team for a few years.
Now my time is spent rebuilding a 65 Mustang GT and 71 Torino.

My family has and is serving in our military or working for the government.

My father was a WW-2 figther pilot (flying sergeant) in the Pacific Died in service at Ft. Polk in 1964
My mother was a light nurse in WW-2 in the Pacific. She died in 2008 and is buried with my Dad in Arlington.
Of course I served in Viet Nam plus many years Reserves and National Guard.
My brother Bill served about 10 yrs. with Rangers and 82nd Airborne. He died in 2005.
My oldest son Nathan served in the Air Force, is now working on his Phd. at Temple University.My middle son, JohnRobert is federal law enforcement with agency in WVA after serving 2-years with Baltimore Police.
My youngest son Ricky and his wife live in Yulee, Fla. while he is stationed at Kings Bay serving on a sub in nuclear power for the Navy.

So, you can see I honor the military every day.
