The cut was at 6-over par. On Monday, he started slow, posting a 39 before making the turn. But on the home stretch, Noto returned to form, birding two of the final four holes to finish the day at two-over par. On Tuesday, Noto once again got off to a sluggish start, before finishing the final six holes at two-under par for a round of 76. “As his coach,” added Sliman, “I’m impressed with his poise and fortitude to finish strong in each round. It takes a lot of guts when your back is up against the wall to finish the final stretch under par.” The U.S. Amateur wraps up the summer for Noto who returns to Lafayette for his junior year with the Cajuns. Over the summer he posted impressive finishes, including runner-up honors at the Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championship. Noto also won the title at the U.S. Amateur qualifying tournament. “He has gained valuable experience at the highest level of amateur competition,” said Sliman. “I feel extremely confident that experience gained will come to fruition in the fall.” Noto and the rest of the 2010-11 UL golf team will now prepare for the start of the 2010-11 season. Noto, along with Philipp Fendt, are expected to be amongst the top tier of the Sun Belt Conference after productive and competitive summers. The Cajuns will hit the links on Sept. 13 to start the season at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg, Miss. Last year, the Cajuns finished in a tie for fifth place, with Noto and Fendt finishing in the top-10. * * * * * * * * * * Golf: Cajuns Finish Up At Memphis Courtesy: RaginCajuns.com Oct. 20, 2009 Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns concluded play at the Memphis Intercollegiate on Tuesday after the first day was shortened due to darkness. After struggling in the first round with a score of 316, the Cajuns posted back-to-back totals of 303 for a total of 922 (?58). The turnaround was not enough however as the Cajuns found themselves in 16th-place at the end of the two-day event. Andrew Noto was the top-finisher for the Cajuns, finishing in a tie for 26th-place, after carding a three-round total of 226 (?10). Philipp Fendt found himself out of the top-five for the first time this season after posting rounds of 77, 78 and 75. His score of 14-over landed him in a tie for 44th-place. Kyle Pritchard (?17), Mark Brockhurst (?20) and Thomas Petts (?23) rounded out the scoring for the Cajuns. South Alabama won the team title with a score of 882 (?18). UALR (?23), Southern Miss (?30), Iowa State (?35) and Denver (?36) rounded out the top-five. Marc-Ettienne Bussieres blitzed the field to earn medalist honors after posting three consecutive rounds under par. His score of 207 (-9) was the tournament’s only score recorded under par. Louisiana has a week to regroup as the Cajuns will play at Louisiana State’s David Toms Invitational on Oct. 26 and 27. The tournament will be held at the Country Club of Louisiana in Baton Rouge.
