Few in my family have excelled in all sports. They were excellent in track, basketball, and football. All of them were the best in high school, but never took their sport to the next level. Hopefully I will be the one to take my ablities to the next level and show people I am the best deaf athlete. I was born deaf and play sports well, like a normal person. I am a deaf athlete like no other. My deafness helps me to focus on what I do best easily. That’s what makes me unique and special person. I don’t allow my deafness to stop me from doing what I want to do. I am an Opelousas High School graduate of 2005. I played well in football for 3 years as a defensive end/linebacker. In my senior year, I played extremely well as a starter and went to the playoffs. We were Regional Finalist and I got the Coach’s Award. I ran track for 4 years and my personal best time in the 400 meters is 48.12 seconds. In my senior year in track, I was in my perfect shape. I believed I would end my senior year with successful results but unforturely, I suffered a bad hamstring tear or strain in my right leg during practice that prevented me from running my last year. That shows I am a hard working individual who likes to overtrain to be the best. Now I learned the importance of taking care of my body to prevent injury and the exercises that will help bring my abilties to the next level. I’m looking forward to succeed in UL track in the 200/400 meters. I want to be the best deuce/quarter sprinter like my idol Micheal Johnson. My time is coming!
