Women’s Tennis: Louisiana Takes Care of Southeastern Louisiana, 4-0

Ragin’ Cajuns improve to 3-0 at home in 2021

LAFAYETTE – For the third time this season, Louisiana picked up a sweep at Cajun Courts after it defeated in-state foe Southeastern Louisiana, 4-0, on a chilly Tuesday evening.

Now 4-2 on the season, the Ragin’ Cajuns (4-2) extended their home winning streak to three matches.

Floriane Picaut and Clara Mantaux got Louisiana off to a strong start, picking up a 6-1 win over Putri Insani and Ximena Yanez on Court One.

Moments later, Lucie Raquin and Babette Burgersdijk clinched the doubles points for Louisiana with a 6-2 victory over Southeastern’s Katya Cornejo and Polina Steptsova.

Raquin was the first Cajun to clinch a point in singles play, topping Flory Bierma with ease, 6-0, 6-1, on Court 4. Christina Jordan put Louisiana up 3-0 just a few minutes later, securing a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Teodora Mitrovic in the No. 3 singles spot.

Isabella Kierkegaard sealed the deal for Louisiana on Court 5, shutting down the Lions’ Annemart Kleijn, 6-4, 6-1.

Louisiana returns to action on Friday, Feb. 26, when it travels to Houston to take on Prairie View A&M. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
