Volleyball: Louisiana Volleyball Ranked No. 15 in AVCA National Poll

Ragin’ Cajuns lead the nation in wins and are chasing the program’s best start ever

LAFAYETTE – In the third release of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Fall Top 15 Coaches poll, released Wednesday afternoon, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Volleyball team (11-0, 5-0 Sun Belt) joined the rankings landing at No. 15.

After receiving votes in the first two editions of the poll, Louisiana makes its official vault into the rankings for the first time. The Ragin’ Cajuns are the lone Group of Five program ranked in the poll, and the Sun Belt Conference’s current representative.

Head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot‘s group’s rise into the rankings is a by-product of the second-best start in program history. The 2020 group trails only the record 13 straight wins posted by the 1990 squad for the overall best start.

Louisiana collected 60 points from the ballots casted among the coaches within the AVCA organization for the Week 3 poll.

Teams in the ACC, Big 12, SEC, and Sun Belt Conference are eligible for the AVCA Fall Division I Coaches Poll.
