University of Louisiana at Lafayette has Interim President, Effective Aug. 1, 2025

Congratulations to Dr. Jaime Hebert – Aug. 1, 2025, first day on the job as UL Interim President. Best wishes in this new position of responsibility.

Peace, Ed

Dr. Jaimie Hebert, a proud three-time UL Lafayette graduate, has been named interim president of the University. He succeeds Dr. Joseph Savoie, who is transitioning to the role of president emeritus after 17 years as president.

In a message to the campus community, Hebert shared his deep ties to the University, his passion for student success, and his belief that this time of transition is also one of great opportunity. “This University is, and must always be, a gateway, especially for the people of Acadiana and Louisiana,” Hebert wrote. “We’re proud to be among the top tier of the nation’s research institutions, and what sets us apart is how we’ve successfully leveraged that status to enhance academics. By doing so, we’ve ensured success is within reach for all students. That combination is rare – and powerful. And it must continue.”
