Two Ragin’™ Cajuns Earn Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate ScholarshipsSoccer’s Julianne Deblieux and Baseball’s Alex Hannie are two of seven student-athletes selected for the awardsLAFAYETTE – Two Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns are among the seven overall recipients of the Sun Belt Conference’s 2021 Postgraduate Scholarship awards with Soccer’s Julianne Deblieux and Baseball’s Alex Hannie earning scholarships, it was announced Tuesday afternoon. Deblieux and Hannie, who were selected by the Sun Belt’s Postgraduate Scholarship Committee comprised of Faculty Athletic Representatives from across the conference, will each receive $3,000 scholarships. A native of Lafayette, Hannie graduated in May 2021 with a 3.85 grade point average and an undergraduate degree in business administration. A three-year letterwinner, Hannie was a two-time hitter of the week and lifter of the week for Ragin’ Cajuns Baseball and has played in 56 games during his career. Deblieux was a three-time Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List honoree and recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science with a 3.96 grade point average. Deblieux will be continuing her studies in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Texas Woman’s University beginning in August. On the field, the Houma native was a two-time team captain and helped her side to the Sun Belt Tournament Semifinals in 2019 and 2020. The scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes with stated intentions to pursue a graduate degree following the completion of their undergraduate requirements and are sent directly to the graduate school of each recipient’s choice.
