Track & Field: Women’s 4×100 Relay Team Advance to Finals at Texas Relays

Final day of competition for Louisiana begins Saturday at 10 a.m.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Kennedy LondonTa’La SpatesSerenity Rogers and Kiana Foster posted the third-fastest time in qualifying while posting the fourth-best mark in school history as the second day of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays concluded on Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The Ragin’ Cajuns, who were running on the outside in Lane 9, posted a time of 45.30 seconds to win their heat by nearly a full second over TCU while finishing behind Oklahoma (44.99) and Northwestern State (45.28) in the compiled results.
 
Louisiana advanced to Saturday’s final, which is scheduled for a 2:06 p.m. start.
 
The majority of Louisiana’s 27-member contingent saw action on Friday with Reagann Leleux finishing seventh overall in the women’s pole vault (12-6) with Frankie Griffin earning a 10th-place finish in the women’s high jump (5-5 ¼).
 
Rogers led three Louisiana competitors in the women’s 100-meter hurdles after finishing 22nd overall in 13.72 seconds. Osayi Omorodion was 38th overall for the Ragin’ Cajuns (14.33) with London finishing 40th overall (14.34).
 
Johneisha George posted a time of 12.04 to finish 44th overall in the 100-meter dash for Louisiana while the women’s 4×400-meter relay team posted the ninth-fastest time overall (3:47.09) but was barely edged out of advancing to Saturday’s final.
 
John Joseph, competing in the men’s long jump (B section), finished seventh overall for Louisiana after posting a mark of 23-6 and Rylan Theyard cleared 6-5 ½ in the men’s high jump to place 11th.
 
Yves Cherubin clocked a time of 14.13 to finish 15th overall in the men’s 110-meter hurdles for Louisiana with Tahj Whitfield finishing 38th at 14.70. Terroll Jolla posted a time of 10.69 in the men’s 100-meter dash to finish 45th overall.
 
The men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Brock AppiahNathan FergussonTrejun Jones and Tyrell Hargrove placed 13th overall after recording a time of 3:17.31.
 
Final day action begins for Louisiana at 10 a.m., when Brooklynne Wilson participates in the women’s discus at 10 a.m., before Theyard and Joseph each compete in the men’s triple jump at 11.
 
Ragin’ Cajuns Track and Field alum Morgann Leleux – the 2016 NCAA runner-up and alternate to the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team – will compete in the Women’s Pole Vault Elite at 2 p.m.
