Story LinksBATON ROUGE – Chandler Mixon and Shaquille Singuineau each posted the top marks in their respective disciplines and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Track and Field team placed seven members on the 2020 All-Louisiana Indoor Track and Field team that was released by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
The indoor team replaced the normal outdoor team that is announced normally in July. The team, using the outdoor format, is based on top times provided by schools and the national qualifying list along with nominated athletes and coaches by the various schools. Sports information and media relations personnel could not vote for their own athletes.
Mixon (heptathlon and men’s pole vault), Singuineau (men’s shot put) were joined on the All-Louisiana team by Emoni Coleman (women’s 800-meters), Reagann Leleux (women’s pentathlon), Dominique Williams (men’s weight throw), John Joseph (men’s triple jump) and Rylan Theyard (men’s high jump).
Mixon earned first-team All-Louisiana honors in the heptathlon after posting the state’s top mark (5,307 points) while his mark of 16 feet, 9 ¼ inches at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships was third overall among all athletes.
Singuineau posted the state’s best mark in the men’s shot put when he recorded a mark of 54-1 ¼ at the Houston G5-Super 22 meet on Jan. 31. Williams earned second-team All-Louisiana honors in the men’s weight throw after claiming the Sun Belt Conference title in the event on Feb. 24 with a throw of 70-0 ¼.
Coleman earned second-team honors for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the women’s 800-meters after clocking a time of 2 minutes, 13.45 seconds at the Samford Bulldog Invitational on Feb. 14.
Theyard (6-10 ¾) and Joseph (49-8 ¼) earned third-team All-Louisiana honors in their respective events with Leleux earning third-team honors in the pentathlon (3,242 points).
