LAFAYETTE – Senior Claire Meyers will be one of two members of the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Track and Field team looking for a spot on the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team when she competes in the women’s javelin at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

The nine-day trials begin on Friday (June 18) and will run through June 27. NBC and NBCSN will provide coverage over eight nights, including six in primetime on NBC.

NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app will present exclusive streaming coverage of select field events, including long jump, pole vault, shot put, hammer, javelin, discus, 20km race walk, decathlon and heptathlon from Eugene.

Meyers, who qualified after posting a then-school record mark of 175 feet at the Crimson Tide Invitational in April, will begin competition on Friday (June 25) at 3 p.m. CT, with the finals set for June 26 at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Meyers, ranked No. 18 nationally heading into the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, claimed wins during the spring at the Louisiana Classics, Texas Relays, Crimson Tide Invitational and Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

She becomes the second Ragin’ Cajuns member in the past two Olympic cycles to qualify for the U.S. Trials after 2016 All-American Morgann Leleux finished fourth overall in the women’s pole vault.

Leleux, who served as the alternate for the 2016 U.S. Olympic team, will also look to advance to the Summer Games in Tokyo when she begins competition in the pole vault on Thursday (June 24) at 7 p.m. CT, with the finals set for June 26 at 7:40 p.m. CT.
