Tennis: Men’s Tennis Helps Lake Charles Racquet Club

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Men’s Tennis team will travel to Lake Charles on Saturday, Sept. 5, to assist in the cleanup and rebuild of the Lake Charles Racquet Club following Hurricane Laura.

Lake Charles

The Lake Charles Racquet Club was weeks away from hosting the Lake Charles Racquet Club UTR Contraband Tennis Invitational, a popular fall tournament for many college players. The prestigious event has had past winners moving on to have success on the professional level.

"We are more than happy to help and play a small role in the restoration project for the club," head coach Mark Jeffrey said. "We need our local clubs to thrive and contribute to the community’s quality of life and enjoyment of the game of tennis. When Tom’s Chicoine club was hit by Hurricane Laura last Thursday, I felt as though we needed to act to help one of our own in a time of need. I am proud of our guys for stepping up and they are happy to help and understood what was at stake."

The program plans on spending the entire day in Lake Charles assisting the racquet club.
