The rise of Ellyson to becoming Louisiana Softball’s ace pitcher began in 2018 with a school-record 20 strikeouts vs. Evansville and a no-hitter of Texas State in the Sun Belt Tournament, highlights of a 23-win season that included her leading the Ragin’ Cajuns to the Baton Rouge Regional championship round. It continued with a nation-leading 39 wins that produced Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year and NFCA All-American honors in 2019, and then in 2020 with wins over Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and Florida twice serving as the crowning achievements of an 11-1 mark in the COVID-shortened season.
