Softball: See Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns’ Karly Heath hit game-winner in 11th inning vs. GW softball

Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and George Washington softball teams were scoreless in the bottom of the 11th inning

That was until UL pinch hitter Karly Heath came to the plate. She was pinch-hitting for Julie Rawls

Heath drove the third pitch she saw off the left-field wall, and it brought in Sophie Piskos from second base. 

Piskos’ run gave the Ragin’ Cajuns a 1-0 victory.

"It was crazy," Heath said of stepping in as a pinch-hitter. "I was in the dugout cheering for my teammates."

Louisiana advanced to face LSU at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday. 

Heath’s hit was the eighth hit of the game for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Leading UL were Kendall Talley going 2-for-5 and Jade Gortarez going 2-for-4 at the plate. 

Summer Ellyson earned the win for Louisiana. She pitched the final five innings and allowed one hit with seven strikeouts and no walks. 

Louisiana improved to 45-10 overall. George Washington went to 37-10 overall.
