Louisiana Athletics has teamed up with RoadRunnerApp.com to offer a new series on RaginCajuns.com in which student-athletes share details on how they’ve adjusted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and offer insight into their personal lives.

In this Q&A feature article, you will "Get to Kneaux" Ragin’ Cajuns soccer forward and Lafayette native Hailey Daigle. After redshirting as a freshman at Louisiana Tech in 2018, the former Acadiana High product returned home and played in 11 matches, recording an assist and helping Louisiana to a 9-8-3 record.

What has become your daily routine during quarantine?
HD: "I wake up early, like 5:30 – 6. Drink my coffee. Eat breakfast. Go workout and run. Homework, or if I have free time, I like to pass time by drawing or painting. Afternoons are for long bike rides or walks and spending time with my family or neighbors."

What has Head Coach Key’s message to your team been during this unprecedented time?
HD: "He simply wants us to stay on top of everything the best we can. And of course, he wants us to make the right decisions so that we can stay safe and healthy."

How have you and your teammates stuck together remotely during this challenging time period?
HD: "We have scheduled Zoom meetings once a week. We also let each other know when we workout each day."

An important question: what is your favorite food?
HD: "Fried Eggplant with crawfish etouffee…"

Take us back to when you decided to come to the University and become a Ragin’ Cajun. What about the school helped you make that decision?
HD: "Well, considering I am from Lafayette, I loved the idea of playing for UL. However, my freshmen year was spent at Louisiana Tech, in Ruston. Whenever I decided to transfer, UL was the first school that came to mind. I knew I wanted to come back home to be close to family and I wanted to represent the Cajun community. Luckily, things tend to work out for the best, and here I am."

What is your earliest sports memory?
HD: "My earliest sports memory is playing for the "Ladybugs" with a friend who is now one of my best friends. Those were good times. I was a defender back in those days."

Growing up, your sports hero was who? And why?
HD: "Growing up, I did not watch sports very much. As I got older, I think I really looked up to Tobin Heath because I loved how creative she was with the ball, and I saw her as a humble player."

What is your major, and what about it do you like most?
HD: "My major is Health Promotion and Wellness. I like that it is an online program, and so far, the professors have been great."

What class have you enjoyed most at the University so far?
HD: "So far, I have really enjoyed Sociology 241. I learned a lot about society as a whole and it opened my mind, helping me to see things in different perspectives."

What are your plans after your academic and athletic career at Louisiana is done?
HD: "I am not 100% sure yet what I would like to do after graduating. So, I am just taking it day by day. I am sure that I will figure it out sooner than later. Ultimately, though, I hope to become a dietician or something along those lines."
