LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Women’s Soccer team revealed its revised 2020 schedule on Friday, a slate that features 13 regular-season matches and eight of the first 10 at the friendly confines of the Ragin’ Cajuns Soccer/Track Facility.
Louisiana, which finished 9-8-3 overall in its first season under head coach Lance Key, will open the season on Friday, Sept. 4, at home against Abilene Christian before facing Sun Belt Conference rival South Alabama in a non-conference match on Sunday, Sept. 6, in Foley, Alabama.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will host Stephen F. Austin on Sunday, Sept. 13, before opening their SBC slate on Sept. 20 at Texas State. After its SBC opener, Louisiana will play six consecutive matches at home beginning with league rivals Arkansas State (Sept. 24) and ULM (Sept. 27), before hosting Texas State (Oct. 4) and Little Rock (Oct. 9).
Louisiana will close out the home stand with a pair of non-conference matches as it faces Central Arkansas on Oct. 11 and Lamar on Oct. 16. The Ragin’ Cajuns will close out the regular-season on the road with matches at ULM (Oct. 18), Little Rock (Oct. 23) and Arkansas State (Oct. 25).
The top four programs from each division will advance to the Sun Belt Championships, scheduled for Nov. 2-8 in Foley, Alabama.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sun Belt Conference has split the teams split into East and West Divisions with teams playing home-and-home against divisional opponents. Louisiana and the rest of the West Division programs (Arkansas State, Little Rock, ULM, Texas State) will play eight conference contests while the teams in the East (Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, South Alabama, Troy) will play 10.
Should disruptions or modifications to the 2020 season occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Athletics will quickly communicate the adjustments. Additionally, the department will communicate specific entry and attendance protocols for home games ahead of the program’s Sept. 4 season opener.
All home matches are scheduled to air live either on ESPN or the live stream portal at RaginCajuns.com.
