Soccer: Mayfield Named to Top Drawer Soccer Women’s Team of the Week

Junior forward leads Louisiana in goals, assists, points, shots

LAFAYETTE – After leading the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Women’s Soccer team to a pair of shutout victories last week, junior Lizzie Mayfield was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Women’s Team of the Week, in an announcement by the organization.
 
Mayfield led Louisiana to a pair of 2-0 road victories after scoring a goal and adding two assists during the week. The West Virginia transfer scored a goal and served up the game-winning assist at Little Rock on Friday before dishing out the go-ahead assists in Louisiana’s 2-0 win at Central Arkansas on Sunday.
 
Through 10 matches, Mayfield leads the Sun Belt Conference in shot attempts (29), is tied for the league lead in assists (4) and is tied for second in goals scored (4).
 
Louisiana (7-3-0, 3-2-0 Sun Belt) will return to Sun Belt Conference action on Sunday when it visits ULM in a 1 p.m. contest. The Ragin’ Cajuns will close out the regular-season with a pair of matches beginning on Oct. 22 at home against Little Rock and Oct. 25 at Arkansas State.
