Obituary: Louis “Don” Boyne – Athletic Trainer 1962-69

July 30, 1943 – January 4, 2025

Friends of Don Boyne,

It is with much sadness that I inform you that we lost Don Boyne at 11:00am this past Saturday, Jan. 4th. Don fought a tough battle with esophageal cancer for the past 5 years. He has been free of cancer for the past 2 years but died from complications of the disease.

Don and I reconnected in 2008 when our paths crossed at a Fontainebleau H,S. (FHS) / St. Paul’s basketball game here in Mandeville. He volunteered as the Trainer for FHS. It’s for certain that for the past 10 years, we’ve spoken darn near every night with breakfast every Friday morning after Mass. He loved to tell people that I was the 12th man on an11 man basketball team at USL. I loved the way he described it. He had a great sense of humor and was a lot smarter than I remember him being in college.

Ed, I know I don’t have to ask you BUT …  can you get this out to the Athletic Network…..Please

May his soul rest in peace…. Jimmy
