A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 11:00 AM in St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, for Mr. Carol Gerald Bayham, 87, who died Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2020 at Lafayette General Medical Center. A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am in Martin & Castille Funeral Home’s SOUTHSIDE location, 600 E. Farrel Road, Lafayette, LA 70508.
Funeral services will be available live on Martin & Castille’s Facebook page for any family members and friends that cannot attend. Please click on the link below to view his services live. The live video will appear at time of service. Entombment will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Reverend William Schambough, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, will conduct the funeral services. A request from his family: "Wear bright colors. Daddy liked bright colors. Please remember those masks!" Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Bobbie Nash Bayham; his daughter, Tina Bayham Warren and husband, Andrew; his granddaughter, Kimberly Lynne Driscoll and husband, Paul; his sister, Beverly Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Bayham, Sr. and Lucy Louise Dobard Bayham; his brothers, John Bayham, Jr. and Alfred Bayham. A resident of Youngsville, Louisiana for 22 years, Carol was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Carol was a natural born athlete, excelling at track from high school through college, setting many local and state records. He graduated from Buras High School, attended Southeastern University and later attended SLI (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He then attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for his Master’s Degree ?32 hours. Carol was an educator for the St. Mary Parish School Board for 34 years. Carol was always professional in his work and was known to be an easy-going person. He enjoyed being around people, his students especially. He was a paternal source of comfort to his colleagues and even more so to his family members. Carol enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, gardening, bicycling, and anything outdoors. He was a "legend" to his family and will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be Andrew Warren, Douglass Rice Davis, IV, Kent Romero, Ronald Robichaux, John Scott Boyd, and Paul Driscoll. Honorary Pallbearers will be Logan Robichaux, Rhett Ansley, Michael Ansley, Kyle Romero, Blake Romero, Brenson Fry, Ricky Gary, Rice Davis, Jack Davis, Alphaeus Rangai and Joe Lorenz. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Carol Gerald Bayham’s name to American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas, 75231-4596, www.heart.org or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, www.stjude.org.
