Louisiana Track To Send 21 To NCAA East Preliminary

Ragin’ Cajuns to send largest contingent in Lon Badeaux era

LAFAYETTE – With its largest contingent in the Lon Badeaux era qualified for a chance to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Louisiana will send 21 athletes to the 2021 NCAA East Preliminary Round set for May 26-29 in Jacksonville, Fla.
 
Action will begin for Louisiana at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium on May 26 with men’s competition in the long jump and pole vault at 2 p.m. CT. Competition will continue through May 29 with the top 24 performers in each event and top 12 relay teams from both regional sites advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.
 
The NCAA East Preliminary is one of two opening round competitions of the NCAA Track and Field Championships with the West Preliminary happening simultaneously in College Station, Texas.

Athletes in 14 events along with Louisiana’s men’s and women’s 4×100-meter relay teams will compete. A pair of Ragin’ Cajuns – men’s sprinter Brock Appiah and women’s sprinter Kiana Foster – will each compete in three events during the four-day meet with the duo set to race in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and the 4×100-meter relay.
 
Serenity Rogers (women’s 100-meter hurdles/4×100 meter relay) and Ta’La Spates (women’s 100-meters/4×100-meter relay), John Joseph (men’s long jump/triple jump) and Obdarius Ware (men’s long jump/4×100-meter relay) are set to compete in a pair of events for Louisiana.
